I Am A: True Neutral Human Wizard (6th Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-10

Dexterity-12

Constitution-9

Intelligence-14

Wisdom-15

Charisma-16

Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.

When Lilacs Last in New Jersey Bloom'd

  • Apr. 30th, 2009 at 7:47 PM
chupacabra
The lilacs are blooming, which always puts me in mind of the Walt Whitman poem. I performed that and O Captain, My Captain once for high school forensics (public speaking sort of deal - not to be confused with the dead people kind) and I have been fond of them since. Other signs of spring - a herd of eight deer spotted by the side of the road, the birds flying in pairs, all sorts of insects and animals starting to run about again.

I went for a bike ride with my brother today, and would like to go walking this weekend if the weather and time permit.

I am just about to start reading Geek Love which Ash and Jess both said was really good. I am also going to start in on some comics as recommended by Dien, but I do not know where to start as yet. Too many choices!

I am feeling a little unwell today, though likely from allergies. There is swine flu reported in the next county over, but I'm not going to get paranoid over it. Aus made dinner for us tonight - he's such a good husband.

Our shed should be here in about a week- then it will be time to get the book business going again. It is also almost time to put the houseplants out on the deck for the growing season.

Meme time:

(stolen from Jeffie - which I totally pronounce as Hef-ay sometimes in my head just because I can)
1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, a word etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
7. In return, you must post this in your Lj.

Put your MP3 player on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title.

Where have all the flowers gone

How fucking romantic.
Oh, my shrinking violet--
once upon a once in a while,

stand at attention.

Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light?
We are two mariners;
I guess they think it's what we want.

Sweet Annabelle--
here she comes.
Take a boat, take a plane.

When I feel the morning grass;
you and me forever. We belong together;
there's a world you're living in.

Sometimes when I'm falling,
all the leaves are brown.

When the winter rains,
stuck in a moment,
I take the train across town.

I met a man with a lumberyard tan.
I heard the laughter at the depot.

What wakes you up?

Lonely day

never say goodbye Miguel and Tulio
Do you ever feel profoundly lonely, even if you're surrounded by people? I have been fighting that feeling all day. Perhaps because there are so many things on my mind, but no one that really has the time to sit down and listen to me babble on about them. Which I understand, everyone's busy doing their own thing and that's cool - but my mood is not towards solitary pursuits today and I kind of actively ache for some socialization.

This is likely because I have been fairly reclusive for the past few days with the cold. I missed going to lunch with my aunt and uncle yesterday, and my history society meeting tonight.

Tonight I've been kind of quietly reaching out online, sending out a few IMs, trying to get involved in conversation on IRC, but not too much luck.

As being emo isn't really going to help matters any - here are some quizzes I took to pass the time:

A supposedly controversial survey...

  • Sep. 24th, 2008 at 8:46 PM
Christmas L
[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
OMG, no. Well, I'm answering it now so what do you think?

[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No, it's harmful and icky. If marijuana was legalized though, you bet. It would help my back pain a lot.

[03] Abortion: for or against it?
For personal choice. Vacuum those suckers out if you don't want to have them - it's your choice. I don't believe something that isn't viable outside the body has the rights yet, and I don't believe that we should ever make a woman have a baby that she doesn't want to have.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Isn't the world already failing? How much worse could it be? I don't think gender has a bearing on effectiveness as a president.

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Yes, but I think we should do more than lethal injections in some cases. I think the punishment should fit the crime. If you stab someone fifty seven times and are sentenced to die, you should die by being stabbed repeatedly. I think that would really cut down on some brutal crimes right there.

[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
Very much in favor of it. I seriously wouldn't marry someone I hadn't slept with, because I wouldn't want to be surprised by having serious incomparability in that area or anything.

[08] Do you believe in God?
Nope, at least not as a guy-in-the-sky. Occasionally I think their might be a higher order to the universe.

[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Of course! Some countries and US states already have it so - and the rest of them should catch up already.

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Oh noes, the Mexicans are going to get us all! No, I think we should change our immigration laws to be fairer. Also, Hispanics aren't the only ones who enter the country illegally - this is a very racist quetion.

[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Hell no. Vacuum it out, and get the girl some therapy and/or sex education.

[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
No, having kids drinking legally at younger ages is not something that's going to help anyone.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
A little too late to call it off, isn't it? Should we get out of there and end it? Yes, as soon as humanly possible.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
Yes, I agree it's illegal. I'm guessing a 14 year old wrote these questions. Do I agree with the IDEA behind assisted suicide? Yes. You should have the right to medically end your life if your suffering has become unbearable.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
I believe that kids behaved a lot better when spanking was the norm. These days you can't do anything other than give them 'time out' and a stern talking to, and they know it and take advantage of that any chance they get.

[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
I'd burn a flag for ten bucks. It's just a piece of cloth- I don't buy into any of that symbolic crap. Besides, if your flag is damaged you're supposed to burn it to dispose of it anyhow so it's actually socially acceptable under certain circumstances anyhow.

[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Obama. Definitely.

[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Nah, I really don't care. We all have our opinions, and we're entitled to them. We're also entitled to stop reading and wander off to look at something else if we can't discuss our differences constructively.

You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

Your result for The Are You a Plausible Character? Test...

An Imaginary Friend

Your score was 51 in Unbelievability!

You are your author's imaginary friend, but you're not really the type of character fiction writers should aim for.

You're more than a little out of the ordinary. You might have had some really crazy experiences, or have an unusual talent or two. Maybe you were even born with a tail. Whatever it is that makes you unique, it does the job well, because there are very few people like you on this planet.

A novel with you as a character would be a guilty pleasure to read. It would be considered intellectual junk food, of course, but damn fun to read nonetheless. Even if many people didn't want to pay actual money to read about you and your exploits, surely it would be checked out from the library at least... once every couple of months.

you are deeppink
#FF1493

Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can't leave behind. You can influence others on days when you're patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.

Your saturation level is high - you get into life and have a strong personality. Everyone you meet will either love you or hate you - either way, your goal is to get them to change the world with you. You are very hard working and don't have much patience for people without your initiative.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

Note that Green Party and Old School Democrat are tied, with New Democrat isn't far behind. That's actually a pretty accurate assessment of my political belief system, though I would have a nice sprinkling of socialism mixed in there if that was one of the choices.

Roleplaying game survey

From this post in [info]roleplayers - but with updated answers, 'cause I thought it over more.

1) What are the last three games you played?
I'm currently playing in online games only, so these are all online:

Vie En Guerre a WWII occupied France game.

Team Fortress a Team Fortress inspired game, but with a whole world behind it. This is [info]chikkiboo's new game!

Shooting Stars - a game about stars who become their roles while acting in supernatural shows - this is the game I'm running, and it's just starting out. Okay, actually it hasn't started yet, other than some play to get things illustrated, but hey.

2) What three games have you enjoyed playing the most?

The same three as above, are what I'm enjoying now.

Three past games I enjoyed were games Aus and I ran - In The Black and SunnydaleOSI , which thanks to Greatest Journal may-or-may-not-be-dead/dying- and Drunken Ogre Inn which just kinda fizzled out on Gather. I'd like to restart that one someday if I can figure out how to do so.

3) What three games that you have never played would you most like to try out?

I would love to play something in a steampunk sort of setting , a world of darkness Vampire game in an offline tabletop manner especially, and maybe a good ol' fashioned D&D game. Oh, and that game [info]unkyrich told me about once where you get to play a cat protecting humans from their own stupid and beasties and such. That might be fun.
